ok place to live
Lived here for one year, and overall it was a mixed bag.
Pros:
- good building security and location
- elevators are fast
- the building itself is well built (noise generally does not carry between units, except for very loud base)
- move in with La Saun was very easy and she was a pleasure to work with
- good appliances (dishwasher, half-size laundry, stove)
Cons:
- low square footage
- The quality of cabinets and other in-room fixtures is very low. It looks okay on the surface-level, but I... think if we'd stayed there more than a year it would have started falling apart (ex: pieces of cabinets are glued and fall off, the flooring has gaps in between boards). Another example: there was a lot of issues with water leaking in one of the apartments below us, and they did a lot of work in our apartment taking plumbing apart to try and find the source of the leak (but never found it, as far as I know). Because of that, we didn't have a bathroom for an entire week of our tenancy.
- moderately often the HVAC would blow air with smoke (cigarette + marijuana) smell in it, which would made me cough horribly.
- The management repeatedly tried to overcharge me (one for a parking pass, once for utilities, once for rent, again for "damages" that I have pictures don't exist). I was able to resolve (most of) the first three of these issues, but it took a lot of time and effort.
- Parking for residents is "reserved", but not really - employees at the office park use many of the "resident reserved" spots during the day
- bugs in the pool - we used it a few times at the start of the year but stopped because there were too many dead bugs
- Once while we lived there, someone threw eggs from above at the park out front (makes it hard to feel secure using the park when eggs can rain down on your head)
The weirdest experience I had on my move-out day. A Landmark employee took one of our movers' dollys - with a piece of our furniture on it!! We didn't know where it had gone, and when I started asking about checking the cameras to see where the dolly had gone (the movers noticed it was missing after they loaded up the truck, and said it was expensive so we all tried for a good while to find it), an employee immediately took us right to the employee-only back room where someone (he?) had put it behind a trash can. However, our bookcase was totally gone and we never saw it again. Very strange....
