Horrible management

Beware of the leasing agent who gets a bonus each time your rent! huge tenants turn over! Nobody wants to live there. security is an issue.

Avoid this place

I recommend not renting here. Management is unreliable. Contrary to what you can read on this site, it is not smoke free. I wake up every week end with my apartment full of cannabis smell. There is cigarette smoke everywhere. They allow residents to smoke next to the front door entrance and you receive all the cigarette smoke when you look for your keys. The only amenity is the rooftop but people go there to smoke too. If you are looking for a smoke free, healthy place, this is not a good option... .The building is not well maintained. There has been an exodus of residents. Extensive staff turn over. There is a tenant association and I strongly recommend outreaching to them to check what you are told when looking for rental is the actual reality. Cleanliness is often an issue. Before you rent, ask precisely if the rent offer is the actual rent. Many of us were not warned in advance that the first year rent is a promotion and when renewing your lease, you realize that, in addition to the annual increase, they also adjust your rent when the promotion ends. In other words, management is not transparent.

Poor Management

I do not recommend renting here. Management is poor, building is poorly maintained and once you are in, you realize that what you were told when renting is not totally the reality. I recommend talking with tenants previous to renting.

BEWARE of this building and of DARO Management

We do not recommend living here and emphasize caution if dealing with this management company.

The Parkwest Pros: Honestly, we love our apartment itself and the building location. The space is great for us and the location is awesome.

The Parkwest Cons: Poor management here has led to the highest rate of resident exit that I have ever experienced. As well as many of the newer residents, neighbors of mine who have lived here for 5-10 years are moving out when they did not plan to. I’ll...
briefly outline some of the incidents and management decisions that I believe are driving many tenants (including us) out, and sane people to write painfully long reviews online:

1. Within the last month, there has been a stabbing, a death, and 4 visits by the police.
2. Within the last 4-5 months, there have been non-residents sleeping in halls, public bathrooms and the rooftop. The hallways smell of smoke and trash, and some residence have been cited for screaming and ranting through the day and late into the night.
3. In the last year, all tenants were without cooking gas for as little as one month and up to three months. It took them months to fix the gas leak and was a major construction job. This construction also aggravated an ongoing pest issue.

I would never recommend a friend or loved one to move here. On top of all the incidents that have unfolded recently, the building itself is falling into more disrepair. Updates have been promised for years and haven’t come to bear. And the only reason that the grass looks great is because one of the tenants took it upon himself to water it by hand. Good luck with your search and I hope this helps anyone (everyone) who is considering living here.
