STAY AWAY!

I wish I would've known. I've been living here for quite some time now and believe I can sum up this complex well. Exterior: The breezeways and sidewalks are atrocious and never maintained. The pond is dyed blue on an irregular schedule and maintains a swampy color for most of the year. The water that comes out of the sprinkle systems smell like sewage. Parking is some of the worst I've experienced. Amenities are average. The grounds are regularly maintained - although the grass could use... improvement but is not essential. No building trash compactor/shoot included. Cannot keep you trash outside for even a minute or you will get a warning/fined. Interior: Cheap and easily dirtied carpeted floors that aren't maintained by the complex by request. Cheap fake wood floors in the kitchen, bathrooms, and doorway. Space is moderate. Appliances are average. IMPORTANT: Water pressure is horrible. Pipes often break. German roaches infest units and are nearly impossible to get rid of. This is a serious problem at this apartment complex. You can also smell what the neighbor may be smoking/cooking in certain rooms through the walls. Staff: Most of the maintenance men are pretty cool guys and work very hard to solve your issues. They're are also pretty quick and try and build relationships with the residents. I respect the work they do very much. The front office staff employment turnover rate is impeccable. There is someone new working there nearly every month. And they never get any better. I don't feel as though they care about their residents. All in all I would say avoid this place at all costs.

TERRIBLE CONDITIONS

If you don’t look too much into it the dog park and playground look like they are in decent shape. However, the resident kids know they can’t use the playground because it’s always covered in a tremendous amount of mold and is extremely dirty. But that’s not nearly as bad as the dog park. It does not have an actual dog park fence. That would have a concrete foundation along the bottom to prevent escape through the bottom. Well, there are several holes along the dog park fence so small dog owners... can’t even bring their dog. My dog even escaped through the fence once and he hasn’t been back since complaint after complaint has seen nothing but a loose spike to try to put a band-aid on the problem. Even if that wasn’t a problem it is flea-infested and bug-infested. Most dogs go home with fleas and owners are bitting up by not stop bugs. There’s no maintenance ever, other than emptying the trash. So when it rains the entire park area is unusable and completely flooded. Which doesn’t help any of the cleanliness problems. Most residents I’ve talked to were interested in this property because of these features and after two years or so most of us are unlikely to renew our leases.

Speaking of flooding, I live in building 5. From the front, it looks maintained from the back it is neglected because no one can see it on a tour. There are a few people who use that as a dog park alternative and know they don’t need to pick up after their dog back there. When it rains it floods and greats a poop smelling swamp that attracts so many bugs and frogs. Not just cracking frogs but frogs that scream all night long. That’s why I have to write out this message because I can’t do it anymore.

Benches looking at the water are always covered in trash and duck poop for weeks before they decide to clean it. Then it stays clean for a day. This is just the problems outside my apartment.

DO NOT MOVE HERE

this Place is a complete joke, its dirty, the trash is left out in the middle of the parking lot, the apartments have very low ceilings, nothing works. we moved in last June couldn't see the place trust we were getting a nice place and was very disappointed. dish washer is so old it doesn't work, no hot showers, broken doors that don't lock, NO PARKING! people are parking in fire zones just to find parking because this apartment doesn't have enough spaces. this place is HORRIBLE! DO NOT RENT... HERE. you'll deeply regret it like I did.

A Relaxing Setting

Essex Place is an excellent apartment complex to rent from because of the natural and earthy elements that are in corporate into its design. The complex is surrounded by assortment of well maintained aesthetic plants and has large beautiful pond at the center. The complex is generally quite throughout the day and most of the times you can sit on your screened patio and enjoy the scenery.
