How Is This Rating Determined?

Good and mostly Bad

It's nice to be on the lake if you are into paddle boarding, etc. But the place is old and run down. Don't believe the photos you see on the website. The model apartment is the only one that I've found by talking to many neighbors that's "remodeled." The last 2 years the maintenance has gone downhill in a big way. Both structurally and landscaping - the place is falling apart in so many ways and landscaping is mostly dead or dying. I talked to a long time resident who said the windows have not... been cleaned in over 10 years. After talking to others at the pool, it's clear that managers don't really care about the maintenance and just shrug and blame contractors about the lack of care of the property. If you're moving in from out of town, insist on photos of every aspect of the unit! We would look elsewhere, there are literally dozens of brand new properties within a mile or two of this place. Silver Bay has a real nerve claiming "market value" rates when there are so many other brand new and well-maintained properties near by and this place is very sub standard. Also, the ammenities they claim on the website and about the surrounding area is obviously written by someone who doesn't live or work here!

They lost my rent check

I've lived here for a year and a half and I have my rent set up with my bank to be sent every month. I've been using this service with my bank for ten years and never have they failed to send a payment that I set up in their system. Without ever contacting me, they sent me a 3 day notice to vacate. I think their office is experiencing problems.

Poor manager quality

I have been very excited to rent from this property and have been getting my ducks in a row before I do, I went in to apply and was told by the office manager that she is not renting today and that I'd have to wait. Her reason was that nothing was available but when I Called later that evening I was told there are multiple apartment. My experience with the staff made me think twice and ultimately choose a different complex to call home.

DONT RENT FROM THIS PLACE

I lived at Silver Bay for around 1 year. The landscape is beautiful and the lake is such a treat! Its very sad to know that the office manager is very unprofessional and very rude. In this time of my stay my apartment had a lot of stuff break, although the maintenance crew is prompt and very friendly, the office manager would put off our fixes. When we bought the apartment we had to wait until move in day to actually see the place. We told the office we did not want to have gas in our apartment... because it was just another expense. It took 3 months for the office to finally shut off the gas and we had to keep paying in the mean time. When we had a rough patch in income we wanted to look at moving into a different unit, something less expensive. Come to find out that if we moved just three doors down, we would have to sign a whole new 12 month lease, a 75$ fee and a whole lot of other expenses. If we wanted to stay at Silver Bay after our original lease was up (in the same unit) We would HAVE to sign a 12 month lease and a bump in rent.
Parking is a joke!
About a month left on my lease, i had a few friends come and help us move. There are some parking spaces marked for Guests, (only two near me, and were usually over taken by residents). Come to find out if our friends parked anywhere outside of the guests parking spot, within an hour you would get a boot on your car and a $75 removal fee.
Not to mention that 'snow and ice removal' is unheard of here. I constantly saw people slipping in the parking lot.
To end this i just wanted to say that they never answer there phones, will take forever to get back to you. The manager has told me multiple times that she doesn't care about the problems with the apartments and to shut up about them. Ask any of the residents and they will all say the same thing. The office manager is very rude. The company will charge you for every little thing.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!
