Great views decent building unfortunate management

As the other negative reviews have stated otherwise nice building ruined by management.

Touring staff said that if I applied within 48 hours there would be no admin fee. Applied and still got hit with the 600$ (!) fee which they refused to remove/honor.

*Maintenance* staff is quite good but at least one elevator is usually broken. In a building with 40 floors 3 working elevators means you're waiting 5-10min near rush hour.

Parking is fine if expensive. It's public parking also so regularly...
get stuck exiting by someone who can't get their app to work for 5 to 10 minutes.

Packages stolen from the mailroom and management is no help.

Overall nice physical building. Gym is fine. Pool was closed well past Memorial day which was annoying. Views are quite good and location is accessible to several trains.

every response is a meaningless form letter crafted to not respond to you

The 5th floor amenities have been closed since December and the rooftop has been closed since new year's eve (it is leap day 2/29 today) and no answer has been given regarding them re opening. To give context, the media room, shown to us during our walkthrough (apartment rented in 2020), was closed first for covid, then "to be remodeled." It not has yet reopened.
Also, on the factually coldest day of the year, they allowed the heating to go out on a Friday during the day, until 11am the next...
day. e-mail contact was the usually run around of no answers, until after a staff member ran to each apartment to reset each heater the next morning around 11am.
Underneath the carpet is a line from the second redoing of the floors after someone walked through it the first time, leaving foot prints in the ground for some time. Perhaps you could optimistically call it artistic, but that was not the case. Also, the elevators run with a touch screen that was out of order for some time, instilling confidence while riding.
Front desk, maintenance, and co. are great! Leasing office lost their last quality employee a couple years ago, possibly when the building changed ownership. Only a handful of staff have remained constant, which is a bummer when it comes to the very friendly desk team.

Great place to live??

We really enjoyed our stay here at 1001 although it was kinda short lived. It's bittersweet to leave, but Life goes on and Change is inevitable. The staff was awesome ?? (Leasing and Concierge). I highly recommend 1001 to live, work and play!
Sincerely, Veronica

This place is the dream!

I don't think there is a better place to live downtown!
I am very proud to be part of this community who offers so much to their residents. I could go on and on about the pros of living in 1001: floor-to-ceiling windows offering lot of light, breathtaking city view, luxurious amenities, affordable parking garage.
Last but not least, I deeply appreciated it when the management supported us after we complained about the disrespectful behavior of another tenant in violation of his lease. The way...
they handled the issue means a lot about how much they care about their residents

They want us to pay to repair the floors for damage caused before we moved in

First off, before anyone from management responds with the canned "we care...please reach out to discuss your concerns..." we have reached out. Multiple times. And are far from satisfied with the responses.

Upon receiving our keys, we went to do the move-in inspection, and discovered several issues. Most notably being massive damage to the floors in almost every single room. Their initial solution to fixing the 7-inch gash in the living room floor was to literally paint the floor with grey...
paint. It obviously looks like trash. When we expressed our displeasure, they said they'd schedule the flooring vendor to get a quote to repair the floors for us, and would follow up in a week. Six weeks later (and several emails requesting more information from him), we were told that there had been a "miscommunication" and that they would not be repairing our floors. But, they'd allow us to go through their vendor and repair the floors ourselves.

They want us to pay to repair the floors for damage caused before we moved in.

In addition to this, the bathrooms constantly smell like cigarettes from other residents smoking in their unit, and the smell comes straight through the vents. If we try to open the windows, they get stuck and maintenance needs to come in with a block of wood to bang on the windows to temporarily fix them so they will shut (until I want to open them again...)

There were chunks of food, garbage, and hair throughout the kitchen and bathrooms upon move in. The washing machine's hot water setting doesn't work.

The parking garage cost has gone up twice since we moved in. The office announced a $75 lock-out fee because they do not want the inconvenience of helping their residents (and refuse to give us a spare key; there's no way to make spare keys with the lock system in place here).

The majority of the front desk staff don't wear a mask, and nobody is enforcing mask wearing in elevators or other common areas.

Yeah, the view's nice. But before anybody gets too excited about that- looks like the view is about to be blocked once 1000 Michigan goes up.
