What could possibly go right here?
After doing a walk through one of the new apartments at Lakeview Apartments, I was pretty impressed. Everything seemed great and the apartment looked nice. So I signed my sanity away in lease form.
First night I stayed here, I was in the middle of moving & realized I was unable to use any water in the apartment. It had a sulfur, rotten eggs, & sewage smell. It took a few hours of running tub water and gagging before I could actually use it. As if that wasn’t enough, neither toilet was working... right, both bathroom sinks were leaking, the bedroom has a huge bump in the floor (no level sleeping), & kitchen shelving is incomplete.
As I was trying to sleep that night, I was startled by someone talking like they were right by me. It was from the apartment below me. Then I heard them in the bathroom & could hear every little noise they made on the toilet. That means they can also hear me! Since then, I have heard people outside the same way. No privacy here at all.
Bad enough? Guess not. My apartment number was not in the system at the Post Office. I have been struggling with this since I moved in a month ago, and I still don’t know who’s fault it is. Regardless, no one at the property management has done anything to help. Long story short: Did a change of address with the Post Office. Apt # not in their system. Apt # changed to my neighbor’s. Neighbor getting my mail (including a car title!). Huge breach of security/privacy. 10-12 more days before it starts getting forwarded correctly.
I cannot get rental insurance because the address is not recognized, and I have heard I will likely not be able to get cable or WiFi either. My license expires soon, & I still have another state’s license plate. I don’t even know if I can get new ones until this fiasco is fixed. Even though I don’t know if it’s the property owner’s fault yet, it’s unbelievable that I have had to spend hours of my time & gas money trying to resolve this, & the owners have not lifted a finger to help with their property.
Okay I am done. WAIT NO I AM NOT! It is Friday evening, a month after moving in, & my dryer has lost all heat. I am working a second job & my work clothes for tomorrow morning are soaking wet. I called maintenance, explained the situation, & they said it will not be done until Monday. W. T. F.
Brand new apartment, waste of money. Added stress. No privacy. Cheap appliances. No window safety 3rd floor. Warping/bowing floors. Owners don’t care. Don’t move. You’ve been warned.
