Communication issues and more
There were red flags during the application process – the lack of calls back and the need for me to call and email almost daily to get my questions answered. It was only during this time that the management seemed willing to help me, it has only got worse since.
For example, I had an expensive package delivered that stated it was left “at the mail room” instead of at my door like usual. I figured, “ok, I’ll just call management and see what that is about”. I called once and no answer. I called... back an hour later and no answer. I called a third time another hour later and still no answer (it was now around 11am). I got up and walked from my unit all the way to the office only to see THREE PEOPLE working there and only then was I asked what I needed.
The lack of communication has been a continuous issue since I got here, but the apartment itself might be the bigger problem. Since I have moved here 6 months ago, I have submitted a total of FIVE different maintenance requests related to pest infestations. In the bedroom, I have had ants crawling everywhere, including around the bed, ants coming out of holes in the baseboard in the closet, and large centipede and beetle-like bugs in the bathroom, kitchen, and entrance area.
AC is also a problem during the winter, or the management’s definition of winter. I moved in in February, so it wasn’t really necessary, but as it became March and then April, it got hotter and hotter and AC then became a necessity. I thought mine was not working so I submitted a service request only to get an email stating that they PURPOSEFULLY KEEP THE AC UNITS OFF until May and that they recommend I purchase a stand-alone AC unit myself. In April it was already hitting almost 90° F so you can imagine how ridiculous this was.
There are other issues, but I am just tired of getting “sorry for the inconvenience” anytime I raise a complaint, especially as a disabled resident who already has enough trouble getting around.
