cockroach infested awful place to live
DON'T MOVE HERE! They are cockroach infested and they are so unresponsive. The employees directly on the Ridgewood property are so nice, however, UDR is absolutely unresponsive and rude. They even locked our whole building out the night after Thanksgiving. The FOB box had an electrical issue and they refused to fix it until the following monday so we were all locked out until someone inside heard commotion and came to open the door. We moved into Ridgewood apartments owned and managed by UDR in... August 2020. We moved out due to a job relocation on March 31, 2022, and paid the full penalty of early move out as according to Montgomery County Law. We resigned our lease in May 2021 for another year. With our resign, we were promised a full carpet cleaning, which we never received. We paid rent every month and were never late with a payment. We had a pre move out inspection on March 29, 2022, where we were told the carpet might need to be replaced but no other issues were found. When we asked the property manager if we would be responsible for the cost of the new carpet, he said no we absolutely would not be responsible for that bill. A week after moveout, we got a bill for repairs they needed to make to the apartment. This included charging us for a full carpet replacement and blinds replacement. I emailed the billing department and asked why we were charged for the carpet and blinds, their response was that the carpet was stained and it was brand new when we moved in, so they needed to replace it. I told them that according to our move in checklist, the carpet was not new. They seem to have lost our move in checklist and have been claiming we never completed one, when in fact, we handed it directly to the on premise leasing department two days after we moved in. The carpet was stained and damaged when we moved in, and we noted that. When asking them about the blinds, they have not given a reason as to why we were charged and have been ignoring my questions about that. They have stopped responding to my emails trying to resolve the situation and will not budge or answer any more of my questions. This seems to be a common trend with them, considering multiple people have been through the exact same carpet situation as us. I just want to not be billed for this, I want my security deposit back, and I want an explination as to why they tried to charge us for new blinds.
