Total rip off.

The apartment is generally ok, when I first moved in however there were many major issues with major appliances like the furnace and water heater which haven't been serviced for so many years.
Also many other issues with weather stripping of the apartment door, lamp, power outlet and so on.
The major appliances for heating and cooling are very old and energy inefficient, like A/C, water heater and furnace which will cost the tenant more money on utility bills.
The response from maintenance was...
very slow, especially when there is a health hazard like a filthy ancient furnace in the inside, I had to clean it out myself the first night and I replaced the filter out of my pocket.
I have requested multiple times that the water heater needed to be serviced because of constant popping noise which means that it has so much sediment inside that makes it poorly functional and very energy inefficient and consumes a lot of wasted energy and money, the office never acted on this until this day, even though the manager said that there is a potential of total replacement.
The manager has no clue what's going on, I was supposed to get over $3k in refund, she only approved a portion of that, and when I asked her she didn't even know what she signed off on!Also there is at least one rude and unprofessional staff at the office.
My advice, find yourself a better place where you won't get ripped off.
I'm actually in the process of having my lawyer deal with this situation.

Miserable place to rent

Outside of an awesome maintenance worker this place is crud. The condos trash pick up is hit or miss, the plowing is a joke IF it gets done at all. In the 4 years we’ve been here we’ve seen 7 office managers! They divide the water sewage bill so if your neighbors are wasters you’re paying for it. Most recent, what I’m hearing, is rent increases to market value based on their upgraded units, no regard for how long you’ve rented and current rent maybe or what is in your unit. There are decent area... for dogs to run around in. It used to be a quiet area until the nursing homes went in. Now it’s sirens all the time. While that’s out of this places control it’s still unpleasant.

Overall great experience!

The maintenance team is the BEST! Victor goes above and beyond to get things done along with Louis. Keep it up guys! I have been through several office managers and staff members during my time here. I want to say, this by far is a wonderful staff. Very professional and get things done in a very timely manner.

Maintenance Guys!!!!

The good thing about the complex is the maintenance guys Vic & Louis. They have a lot to accomplish within a day but I have never had any problems with any of my work request getting taking care of in a timely manner. They both do an outstanding job, compared to the other maintenance people in the past, Vic and Louis are the BEST!!! Keep up the good work guys!!!!

This place overall is okay to stay. A bit overpriced. The office staff turn around is crazy, can't seem to keep good consultants in...
the office. The other condos Pinefield residents need to understand they have STOP SIGN they need to use. Now winter time is horrible, the company/companies they have come plow does a HORRIBLE JOB and does not keep up with the plowing. BIGGEST ISSUE EVERY YEAR!! They need to hold residents accountable for dog poop. If you don't want to clean up after your dogs then move to a house and get out of an apartment.

Avoid like the plague

We moved in to an apartment that previous held cats. We could tell because the entire upstairs reeked of cat urine and litter. It also appeared that the place was never cleaned between tenants, or even checked after move out. The floors felt like they were drenched in syrup, the kitchen was a disaster area. There was trash in multiple drawers from the previous tenants as well. They're so dedicated to throwing good money after bad that they replaced the carpet TWICE then covered it in... linoleum after the smell continued to permeate, INSTEAD of tearing out the floorboards and being done with it. Four MONTHS we dealt with this. Time and time again I was told someone was coming to fix things, only to sit at home all day waiting for people who never showed. I'm still not sure if they retain the skills of cheats and failures or were simply lying to me to make me stop visiting the office, but neither one does them any favors. Well, 6 months later It STILL reeks and now they've informed us they will not be doing any more to change the situation. They told us we could stay and deal with it or we could get out. They wouldn't even lower our rent, even though we've done EVERYTHING they asked us to to help get this fixed. We're unable to use portions of our floor space because of this. They've been in breach of our contract since DAY ONE, dragged their feet on all the fixes then gave up once they decided they had spent enough. The carpets are still untacked from the last "fix", and that was 2 months ago. All in all, the single worst living experience I've ever had. Village Green simply does not care about its tenants.

Property Manager at The Vista Apartments and Townhomes responded to this review

Hello, and thank you for sharing your feedback with The Vista Apartments and Townhomes. We are very sorry for the concerns and inconvenience you’ve experienced with our community. We want to assure you we take all reported concerns from our residents... very seriously, and work diligently to address and resolve such matters swiftly and professionally. The carpets were cleaned on 6/5 to try to alleviate the concern. On 6/14, our team pulled up the new carpet and pad to apply treatments to the flooring underneath. You followed up a week later, stating this did not help, which then prompted us to contact our vendor to come out to replace the drywall and subfloor of the closets in full, pull up the boards, and replace all soiled areas. We also opted to pull the carpet out and switch it to vinyl. These items were completed and the decision to switch to vinyl was made on 6/28. On 6/29, our vendor replaced the carpet in both areas for vinyl, and we provided compensation in the form of a $100 gift card for the inconvenience on 7/6. On 7/23, you followed up with our team regarding the concern, and on 8/13, our vendor came out to remove all carpeting, treat the upstairs area in full, and move your items back into place, which was the final action we could do given the situation. We did offer the option for you to be let out of your lease without penalty for the inconvenience, and we also offered to transfer you to a different apartment home at the community, both options which were declined. Again, we are very sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced. We would be more than happy to meet with you again in person to discuss this matter, as well as review your options for a transfer or termination of your lease. We welcome you to contact us directly at the office at 269-315-0015 or anvpropmgr@villagegreen.com to discuss. Thank you, Shane S., Property Manager
