Luxury Rental But Not-So-Pleasant Property Manager
It’s sad that my wife and I had to move out of Lakeville Woods. It’s a nice apartment complex; it really is. It’s billed as Luxury Rentals in Lakeville. There are a lot of good things to say about it, and over the course of this review I will point some of those things out.
Essentially we had no complaints about the physical layout of the building, apartment, and parking. The layout was perfect. I knew the rent was too high but because of our circumstances we knew we were getting into, we felt... it was worth the extra $150 a month for the 7-month lease we took.
We had a few maintenance problems. The main 2 problems we had were there was some sort of leak from the HVAC unit near our bedroom. It took them 6 weeks to fix it.
When vacating the apartment complex,we had to give a 60-day notice. This lease stated that if we were even one day into that 60-day period, we’d be required to stay another month. My wife went to inquire about the possibility of us staying an extra two months. The lady said that if we were to move we’d have to pay the $300 mid winter move out fee in addition to the $200 that would be required to go month-to-month. “It’s in the lease” is what she said next.
Well, we checked the lease and we were absolutely correct.
So, my wife went to point out that what she had in fact said was false, and her comment back was that there’s no negotiation on the other fee. She offered no apologies for lying about the lease to my wife.
We were hoping for a two-month extension. We’d still be moving out in the Winter as our original lease noted. They’d have an additional $3K from us. We were even willing to pay an extra fee on top of that for the month to month. But the lady in the office would have nothing of it.
Before moving out we filled out an "anonymous" survey from them, and the manager responded to us immediately! What didn't they understand about anonymous?
Now, as it turns out our life direction changed course and we’re staying in MN for an additional 9 months. So, not only did the lady in the front office disrespect her tenants, she lost her management company a cool $14000 in rent money.
Also, be advised about the $250 non-refundable administration/cleaning fee upon move-in
The Lakeville Woods building and facilities are great. Overpriced for certain but you know that going into it. Stonebridge Communities should really consider who they put in as property manager.
