Nice apartments, absolutely terrible management.
I moved into this apartment while completing my last year of training as a physician at the University of MN. The building is nice and relatively new. Apartments small but nicely furnished and reasonably priced.
There was a change in management halfway through my lease, but I didn't note any big issues at the time. The problems started when I moved out. During the last month I was there, I found other people parked in the parking spot I was paying $125/month for multiple times. Phone calls to... the office about this were not returned. In the one case where there was actually someone in the office to speak to about this, it turned out SHE was parked in the spot, though she was kind enough to tell me that she'd be leaving in about 45 minutes and the parking spot I WAS PAYING FOR would be available then. I ended up getting to load my belongings into my car in the rain, while paying for street parking, multiple times.
Then I moved out. Less than a month after I'd moved out, I started getting repeated calls from an unrecognized phone number. I eventually answered to tell them to stop calling me, and discovered it was a debt collection agency. Rather than calling, e-mailing, or snail mailing me the final month's utilities (all methods of contact they had), the management company sent $177 to a collection agency less than a month after I moved out.
I called the office multiple times, listened to their cheerful message indicating that "Village Green has been number one in resident satisfaction six years running," left multiple messages, and did not receive a call back. Eventually, I apparently called at the magical time and spoke with a human being, who confirmed that the collections call was not a scam. She informed me that they had “had an issue” with the previous property manager, that the debt had been sent to a collection agency automatically (again, less than a month after I moved out and with NO attempt to contact me). She offered an apology, but nothing else. Unfortunately the apology will not repair the damage to my credit rating.
I am absolutely furious. The amount of money in question is frankly negligible for me, but I have never in my life had a debt sent to a collections agency, and level of personal disrespect on display here is breathtaking. I would strongly recommend avoiding this complex and this management company.
