If you like to sleep through the night, not for you.
I have lived in this apartment building for 6 months, and I am moving out this week. Here is my experience.
What I like:
1. The finishes in the apartment, and the downstairs lobby, are very nice. Floor to ceiling subway tile in the bathroom, vinyl “hardwood” flooring throughout, stainless steel appliances, floor to ceiling windows in the living and bedrooms, and plenty of outlets (14 total in the living room and kitchen).
2. It is actually pet friendly.
3. The building manager is a... sweetheart and does his best to take care of all of our issues.
The bad:
1. There has been broken glass in the elevator for months now. Their solution was to put packaging tape across the interface, which the glass has been falling off of. It did not fix it. It has been 3 months.
2. The hallways are disgusting. Always smell bad, covered in weird stains, dirty carpet. Same for the elevator.
3. Management does not return phone calls. If you leave a voicemail, be prepared to call back or you will not hear from them.
4. There is a bar directly across the street that closes at 2:30 AM, even on Sundays. When the bar closes, the patrons move to the parking lot and blast music out of their cars, drink, yell, and sometimes fight. There have been multiple instances with gunshots and cops are there once a week. They are loud until 3:15 AM.
5. There is a school a block away also. Their pick up and drop off line runs down the street of this building. Between 8:45 and 9:15 AM, and 3:45 and 4:15 PM, you cannot even get to the apartment building. You cannot pull your car in or out. Do not plan on coming or going in that timeframe.
6. Main Street has been under construction this entire time. They have closed the entrance to our street multiple times. It is also very loud. They were not doing construction when we toured and signed our lease. 2 weeks later when we moved in, we asked our leasing agent about the construction and she said it was set to be done in “a few weeks”. It is still happening. Between that and the school, it is very hard to maneuver the parking lot.
7. The parking lot is constantly full, and people are often being towed out of it. When I had a knee surgery while living here, the complex wanted to charge me $65 for handicap parking.
8. There is often trash, broken glass, and always dog poop in front of the building.
9. They brag about the sound proofing of the units which is true, I never hear through the walls and haven’t ever heard my neighbors above
