Don't sign that lease!
This complex used to be a hotel. It was transformed into a multi-unit residential apartment.
Pros:
- Excellent location.
- Staff are nice.
- New appliances. The fridge and microwave in my unit were brand new, none of the units come with dishwasher though.
Cons:
- DO NOT trust a single word the staff tell you. No body delivers on what they promise to do for you, even small stuff. For example, I asked if they could print and hang some gym etiquette signs, two weeks ago. One of the staff said... she will do it right now, never happened.
- Door Locks! THIS IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW. All residents at VIVO has access to each others rooms!!! NO PRIVACY! They give you hotel keycards and tell you it's activated for your room. What they don't tell you is that it's not specific for your room, it opens any door in the apartment. So anyone with a keycard can enter anyone's room.
- Keycards: The keycards they give you deactivates after few days (mine usually deactivates ones a week), which means you will be locked out. I have been locked out of my room 3 times in two months. For two days I was using a ladder to get into my room on the second floor! Last time was yesterday (10/16/22); Most of my groceries went bad by the time I found one of my neighbor to let me in. He could believe that his keycard could open my door. I informed him that anyone can open anyone's door.
- Emergency Maintenance: Your chances of getting the president of the United States on the phone is higher than getting the maintenance people here to answer when you need them. As mentioned, I have been locked out 3 times because the keycard they give you won't work, called maintenance at 3:01pm, he called me back at 9:16pm.
I understand that converting a hotel to an apartment isn't easy and they will eventually figure it all out, but it still doesn't justify the ignorance you will get here. Even though the staff are nice and friendly but they are all incompetent and have no clue as to how to run this business.

As you mentioned, we did use keycards at one point, however, at no point were the keycards able to access... another resident's unit.
