Stay Away from Oakmont Flats
I moved into Oakmont Flats in August 2022. The one bedroom apartment had a good space. I was skeptical renting out the ground floor as I have bad allergies but I needed a place to move and this seemed like it could a place I'd call home.
A month after moving in, I had issues with mice. One mouse got into my apartment and scurried around my bedroom at night and they would also manage to get stuck on my patio (a patio I haven't been able to use since moving in). It's basically an extended trash... can w/ gunk and trash from other residents at this point.
In March 2023, my Rav-4 that was registered with the apartment, was towed from the parking lot without warning. The two apartment managers I saw would not contact the tow company or help me get the car back and they also didn't tell me that either of them had called the tow truck company.
The first week of July, I go back to my apartment and my bathroom is flooded. This was no fault of my own, the pump had backed up and overflowed into my bathroom and also into my bedroom. I reached out to management and they brought in maintenance to fix the issue. Everything seemed okay except for the huge dehumidifier they had blowing in my bedroom.
I come back on 7/6 ( a week later) and as soon as I opened my door I could smell the stench of sitting water. My bathroom had flooded again. I called maintenance to see if they could come fix the bathroom. On 7/8 I received a notice from maintenance that said the request was completed. I came back to my apartment a week later, my bedroom rug was torn out from a corner with one big, loud dehumidifier blowing under the rug and another blowing into my bathroom.
I reached out to management to see if I could be compensated for the time that I could not live in my apartment and they would not give me anything for it (which honestly blew my mind). The flooding was not my fault and that apartment was unlivable during the time. If I had not had a girlfriend who's place I could stay at I would be staying at a hotel or bunking with friends. From my understanding they haven't even tested for mold in the apartment.
Talk to the residents before you decide to move in. I know some people that have had a solid experience and others that can't wait to move out. I've felt trapped at Oakmont Flats since I've moved in. I don't feel good when I'm in my apartment, I do like my neighbors, but it's been a tough experience.
