Decent - Awful cancellation policy
Our experience at The Charles was pretty solid. Here are the reasons we liked and disliked living here:
Pro:
-Great amenities. The pool/gym/clubhouse are all excellent.
-Floorplan. We got the 2 sinks in the master and loved this.
-Most maintenance was timely.
Con:
-Awful cancellation policy. Technically there is no cancellation policy on the lease, so the offer they provide through corporate is the worst we've come across. 2.5 months rent, forfeited deposit, $300 lease break fee, and extra... fees for painting/cleaning. If you do the math, that's $3,000+ for any unit. We didn't think that we'd be moving anytime soon, but circumstances change so we just have to deal with it. This is our second year in the unit and we also confirmed that they have a waitlist for the unit we live in, so we know they could cut us some slack. No luck.
-You have to pay for burnt-out lightbulbs. Yep... lightbulbs.
-Relatively cheap/fast construction. We had paint splatter on appliances, countertops, and carpet upon move in. The finishing touches were rushed. The walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors pretty well.
