terrible plaace

If I could give it a zero I would. AC dehumidifier did work. Humidity at 70 percent. Industry standards is no more than 50 percent. Portable dehumidifier took 6.25 gallons of water out in 24 hours. Ran continuously for weeks taking 2.5 gallons out a day only bringing the huidity level down to 50. With AC off, humidity back up to 56 percent. They pressure washed the building causing my laundry room and foyer to leak. Their response, "that happens every time we pressure wash the building... ." Gee, why don't they fix it. I asked if this could cause a mold problem. They said no. Their response to the humidity issue was to terminate my lease. They won't move me into a different unit. The "apartments are professionally cleaned when vacated." Then why did they not discover the mold growing in the dishwasher. Lease is written in such a way that they can terminate it without cause. Unit across the hall screened in patio was infested with flys and maggots. The residents were blamed continually. it took a dozen phone calls for maintenance to figure out that the people above were putting their garbage out on the deck creating a perfect spot for flys and maggots to drop down into the unit below. There are more i could list but why bother. Save yourself some frustration and stay away from Nicholas Place apartments in Middletown, Ohio.

DO NOT RENT

These people will take advantage of you during the move out process.
We kept out apartment incredibly clean and vacuumed weekly.
No matter what condition the carpet is in they will rip it out and charge you. Didn’t notice while we lived there but there was constantly people changing carpet out! DO NOT RENT

BEWARE

While ultimately this is my fault, if you claimed bankruptcy, they will not approve you. They did not mention this when asking for qualifications, but it is on page 3 of the application (which I didnt see). They should have double checked and disclosed this verbally in my opinion. I asked so many questions, but my BK was 5 years ago and they wont approve it. HORRIBLE communication. They lady was also very short with me when applying. Not friendly at all!

Very nice units and facilities

The units are very nice. They are well cleaned and painted before move-in. The bedrooms are decently sized and have generous walk-in closets. One bedroom has a small attached bath as well. The attached bathroom has a tub and the other has a large shower as well as a linen closet. The units have a large walk-in coat closet with laundry hookups at the back of it. There is plenty of cabinet and counter space in the kitchen. There is a built-in ice machine in the freezer and a dishwasher next to the... sink. The walls are pretty thick so noise from the adjacent apartments is almost never a problem. I live next door to my brother-in-law, who likes to play his music pretty loud, but we have never heard his music from our apartment. The staff are very friendly and helpful, doing everything they can to make the tenants happy.
The reason for 4/5 stars is noise complaint issues. While the noise reduction in the walls is good and it helps, we have had issues with our upstairs neighbors. They have a large dog that barks at all hours of the day and night, and we also hear the owners yelling at it, which only adds to the noise already happening since the dog doesn't stop barking afterward. The noise wakes us up at 3 or 4 AM every morning and it continues for several hours so we can't fall back asleep. It also sometimes wakes us up in the middle of the night. We complained over a dozen times to the office, who had to send the complaints to the corporate office. But nothing has been done. We have been dealing with this for over 6 months now and just a couple of weeks ago, the neighbors were allowed to get a puppy. So now, we hear a large dog and a puppy barking and howling all day and night as well as occasionally people yelling. We also hear the dogs running and jumping around, which is just as loud as their barking because of how big they are. I talked directly to the dog owners a few times, and was told "dogs bark; it's what they do. There's nothing we can do about it." So clearly, they have no intention of training their dogs at all. Unfortunately, even after 6 months of weekly complaints, the corporate office refuses to evict or move the dog owners because "the people haven't broken the rules; only the dogs have."
The place is great, and it would be perfect if this neighbor issue would have been dealt with in a timely manner, but after 6 months, nothing has been done so far. We are moving out as soon as our lease ends if this isn't resolved.
