Definitely has pros and cons

Pros: Carson street commons is in the perfect location, the apartments are a great size, the amenities are fantastic, and the staff, including maintenance, are very accommodating and friendly. You get a fantastic deal on paper; there are no comparable apartments in South Side for the price. Even the monthly bills are very reasonable.

Cons: The parking is limited, and most residents have been towed at least once due to the ludicrous limitations. Some residents with garages have a built in...
parking space in front of their garage (which they unfairly do not pay more for), but 80% don't use them, so it's wasted space. The walls are so thin that you can legitimately hear conversations people are having outside, especially if it's a neighbor on a balcony. Residents do not clean up after their pets, and often times themselves, so it's not always the cleanest in the evenings (but maintenance always tends to messes in the morning). We live on the river side, which was a great idea to get away from the loud crowds, but if you're a light sleeper, you could not live there. The trains are extremely loud, even with everything completely shut up.

Overall, we are not unhappy with the apartments, and, for us, the pros outweigh the cons, but I definitely wish I had known what I know now before I moved in.

A Little Pricey, But Worth Every Penny

Carson Street Commons is the first apartment complex I have rented. The management staff were helpful in all of my questions and were available even after normal business hours. At first, the apartment seemed to be a little expensive for the square footage. But, with in-unit laundry, updated appliances, and hardwood floors, the unit was a smart and easy decision. The unit was clean and freshly painted at move-in. Despite living in the city, the unit is very quite with no street noise, but the... occasional train does run by the complex. The complex comes with off-street parking and is also pet friendly. My favorite part about Carson Street is that everything you could possible want (food, grocery, bars, and movies) is within walking distance. I am very happy with Carson Street Commons.
