If you can get past the cracked paint, the 4$ a load laundry, and the sewer flies that have recently moved into the garbage disposals, this apartment MIGHT be okay. But dealing with that on top of everything else makes it a living hell.
First off, before I first moved into this horrible place, we had agreed with them that we would have a HARDWOOD floor throughout the apartment. Come move in day (a day later than what we had also initially agreed on) I find that they had put us in a fully... carpeted apartment. That should've been my first red flag, but because we didn't have anywhere else to go, we had to take it. Over the course of the almost two years I have lived there, rent has gone up while seemingly everything else has gotten even worse somehow. Here's a quick list of all the crap I've had to put up with so far:
-The paint is cracked throughout the apartment
-Random maintenance issues that take forever to get resolved
-Random things that require a stranger from maintenance to come into the apartment when I'm not home (with usually about 1 days notice, if that)
-Blinds that barely work/constantly break
-Other tenants having parties or being insanely loud on week night (when I called to complain they told me they wouldn't do anything and to call the police, even though there is supposed to be "quiet hours")
-People on my floor constantly smoking weed, but management putting notes under MY door without bothering to look into it
-People walking around smoking blunts (which doesn't bother me) but then management coming after ME for using a vape
-Laundry machine which literally tore apart my expensive bras and underwear (which management said they couldn't do anything to reimburse)
-CONSTANTLY repainting the inside of the apartment building in a poor attempt to make it look like it's not crappy, causing me and everyone else to have to deal with fumes
-A front door which STILL doesn't lock, and management has done nothing about even though we've called plenty of times
-During COVID, I've seen them come through to clean the common areas MAYBE three times, that's it. Aside from that they do nothing that I'm aware of to keep things clean for the tenants.
-Installed a jungle gym DURING COVID, haven't seen anyone bother cleaning that since it's gone up, glad to see where they are spending the rent money.
I could go on and on, but if you're considering moving here, PLEASE look elsewhere.

I have been a resident of East Bay Village for many years, since retiring from the U.S. Navy. I have been very happy here; quite simply, it is a nice place to live. The management staff are friendly and responsive, always welcoming calls or visits and wanting to help. The maintenance staff are superb. They work very hard throughout the property and respond to calls at all hours, handling emergencies immediately (fortunately not many of those). They have handled many routine requests of mine over... the years and work as long as it takes to get the job done without complaint. Finally, there are property/building/landscape upkeep and upgrades going on regularly during decent weather months and during snow their plowing and clearing efforts are the best of any other apartment complex around as far as I can tell. I highly recommend East Bay Village to meet one's housing needs either short or long term.

I've rented for years so the renting world is not new to me. East Bay Village is by far the worst place I have ever lived. I really don't even know where to start. The day we moved in the stove was wired incorrectly and shocked us any time we touched it. The door was also extremely difficult to open and close, something you would expect on an apartment in the hood. Our neighbors constantly shoved full salads down their garbage disposal, causing ours to back up. We would come home and find ground... up spinach in our sink. This happened every day until they moved out. We let the maintenance people know, and they said they'd take care of it and tell them to stop doing it. The issue was never resolved. The dishwasher has not worked since day 1, despite being "fixed." The tub backed up on multiple occasions, again despite being "fixed." The bathroom sink had a crack in it which caused the sink to leak into the cupboard below and destroy my $200 blow dryer. We told maintenance and nearly a year later this still has not been fixed. While we're on the subject of the bathroom, it's just disgusting. There is mold all over the walls that has been painted over. I've never had allergies in my life until I moved here. The one working washing machine in the building completely destroyed one of my work shirts, putting holes in it surrounded by black marks. There is a family of 5 living above me (not permitted per the lease) and they constantly pound on the floors of all hours of the day and night. I've asked them to be quiet, I've asked the management (Ashley) to take care of this multiple times, yet I still get woken up by these people at 2 am. I'm in my apartment MAYBE 8 hours a day, to sleep, and I cannot sleep because management refuses to take care of the issue. The idiots across the hall locked themselves out a few weeks ago, and decided to buzz every apartment in the building around 1 am instead of calling the rental office to let them in. This is not the first time this has happened. Not only is the standard of living incredibly low here, the rent is way to high for what you're getting. If I knew what a dump this place was, I would have gone somewhere else. I can't get over how awful the staff is here. I don't get packages here anymore because I wouldn't be notified until a week later.
Long story short, save yourself the frustration and move in somewhere else. If you're a normal courteous person, do not move here you're too good for this place and everyone in it.
