Lipstick on a pig!!!

These apartments look nice but ride through the community after 9pm and see if it still looks that way. There’s a lot of shady people living back there but they’re not half as shady as the leasing staff. For what these apartments are asking compared to the dozens of others near by, you should definitely keep looking. I stayed a year and 6mo. in I was already looking forward to moving out.

This Must Be The Place

The staff takes care of their residents and keep their promises. Everything runs smoothly and it is a great place to live.

Tenant focused

Ruthann and her team of office staff have been exceptionally nice and helpful. They have gone above and beyond to ensure that everyone feels included with community events and activities. I’ve lived in many apartment complexes, but the management at Harper Place has been the only ones that have actually cared about the people that live at the apartments. Decided to renew my lease for another year!

Read before you rent.

The apartments look great at first. The pool The gym and the clubhouse are gorgeous. What you do need to know is there a ton of palmetto bugs/ cockroaches. Office tends to say that it’s because you live in the south but As I know I have lived in the south for quite some time and my sister has A house about 10 minutes away and she has seen maybe five palmetto bugs in her house in 10 years she also does not spray at all. The palmetto bugs at the apartment complexes are everywhere in the hallways... everywhere in your apartment on the countertops anywhere you could think of they are there. I have called the office for 3 weeks to have them come spray and they keep forgetting to put us on “the list”. I don’t have food out, nor glasses of water because they will jump right in. The hallways are disgusting. The dog park is not nice at all the water bowl that they have over there does not have any pressure and doesn’t drain. The cell phone tower right next door is probably giving you quite some radiation. They’re also building more apartments right under power lines. They don’t have any staff for repairs. All the paint chips on the cabinets. The railings on the porch are rusted. I am sure they’ll charge us for them when we leave. The doors to the apartment do not close unless you lock them. The walls are paper thin you hear all your neighbors. They don’t enforce dogs on leashes. I have had two dogs now off their leash aggressive towards mine. If I could add pictures and videos I would. Don’t waste your money.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback and review. We would sincerely appreciate the opportunity to meet with you in person to discuss your concerns.

We will be happy to have pest control treat your apartment. You are...
welcome to call in requests or place a request through the online portal for our residents.

The interior breezeways are scheduled to be repainted the first week of October! We are very excited for this and thank you for your patience while this was being scheduled. We think you are going to be very happy with the freshly painted breezeways.

People are really nice but things you are not told but need to know

First I want to say the staff is great, the grounds are kept very clean and manicured, maintenance is spot on. No complaints there whatsoever. Nice washer / dryer. Except for cell phone tower, it is a pretty complex.

That being said. Very very noisy. New construction for "phase 2". Constant equipment. Train tracks very close by, train horns multiple times throughout the day... and night. Nothing muted on those horns.Of course you have landscaping with blowers. Trucks of whatever sort in and...
out. And, of course you live in an apartment, we just happen to have some loud neighbors.

No hot tub. Pool is not heated, but is very very pretty.

Design issues (in my opinion):
I do not feel these apartments are for older folks. Garden tubs are great but seem to be a fall risk. I am not "that old" but I am 5 foot and the tub hits me mid-thigh and is rather hard to get in and out of. Both bathrooms have these. I am a nurse and can see an older person falling trying to get in or out of tub. Maybe better idea would have been to make one a walk in shower. No linen storage area in either bath??? Something you do not think about until you do not have it.

Lower cabinets in kitchen have this half upper shelf which basically cuts down on storage space. We are cooks so we are still having trouble finding place for things. I can't believe a this new of a place there is no pantry??? Again, something we did not think about until we did not have it. We had to buy a little cabinet thing which is still not enough room.

Closet in one bedroom large but still begs for storage space.

USB ports. OK. Being picky now. So the last place we lived in out of state actually did have USB ports in the apartment. Just thinking about how everything works with USB now a days, would have been a nice addition. No phone jacks in living room or kitchen. Modems have to go in bedrooms but that's OK I guess, it's wireless. Just like keeping my computer stuff together.

TRAFFIC. Keep in mind property backs up to a busy Walmart and with the new builds going on, traffic is going to get a lot worse. I am NOT looking forward to the holidays. Traffic is already heavy most of the time at Bee's Ferry and Glenn McConnell.

In general, I feel apartments here are way overpriced. We were lead to believe rent would be a little less expensive here than in Phoenix, wrong. We pay more here .

Good luck in your search!

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear this has not been a 5-star experience for you. We appreciate your patience as Phase II is completed. With it will come additional amenities that we hope you will enjoy as well. We understand... Charleston traffic can be challenging sometimes but with it also comes great proximity to lots of shops and restaurants. If there is anything we can do to improve your experience, please let us know.
