I usually don’t write reviews but my experience with Yorktowne Village has been one of the worst. I would give negative stars if I could. Starting off, my first impression was a good one - the neighborhood seemed nice and the unit my husband and I were shown was very nice and in the process of being remodeled. We thought it would be a decent place to spend the next year of our lives and our baby’s life (I was pregnant). The unit we were given however, was short of decent and nice. Right off the... bat we noticed the townhome reeked of cigarette smoke but we figured it would go away on it’s own - it didn’t. A few weeks into our lease we started having gnat and roach problems which I was completely disgusted by because I’ve never had those in any place I’ve ever lived and immediately put in work orders. They were responded to but nevertheless the pest issue persisted. Then we even got a bigger issue on our hands after I had my baby and was away from the townhome for about 5 days. While in the hospital I noticed ALL my clothes and the outfit I brought for my baby REEKED of cigarette smoke. You can imagine my disgust and concern as new mother. Then 5 days postpartum with my newborn baby I returned to the townhome and was greeted with the cigarette smoke, gnats, & roaches. We put in a work order for that awful odor and the pest issues and NOTHING got resolved. On top of all that, I had a couple of nights I would wake up to screaming and arguing from the parking lot and one night I even witnessed a woman being physically assaulted. Eventually I decided I couldn’t keep my newborn baby in that environment for the sake of his health, mines, & my husbands and we decided to discuss with the office if there was any chance of resolution. There wasn’t. We were basically told we had to deal with it or move out. And we were told if we moved out we would still have to pay the penalty fee even thought we were moving out from fault of Yorktowne Village and not for reasons of our own. It was a tough decision - but if there are any mothers reading this I’m sure you can understand putting your child’s health and safety before anything else - we ended up being putting in our 30 days notice and forced to pay $2k for it.
If you’re thinking about renting here or know anyone who might think about renting here, I hope my experience can show you something and hopefully prevent you from making the mistake my husband and I made of ever having our baby here and of renting here.
