Poorly Managed
My sister lived here for about 7 months during a tough time in her kids and her’s life. In June, she was asked not to renew her lease which was up in July. While the reasons could have been disputed, no one wants to live somewhere they are not wanted.
In the process of moving out she was harassed by the manager and courtesy patrol officer. As a result of this I offered to handle the remainder of the move out. I asked to do a walkthrough and was told my name was not on the lease and it wasn't... necessary and they were "scared" to do it with my sister. I called back and tried to talk to the manager about it an was rudely told the same thing and hung up on before I had the chance to say anything.
I went to drop the keys off and see if I could talk to the manager. She came out and snapped at me asking what I was doing there. I calmly replied I had the keys and wished to do the walkthrough as my sister's proxy. She refused and told me to leave or she would call the cops. I said I would, but my sister was on her way with the garage door opener, so I would sit down and wait to give her the keys to handle the situation. She began screaming at the front desk personnel to call the cops. At this point I took a seat with my kids and waited for them to show up.
While waiting, the courtesy patrol officer showed up and began yelling "Is this really worth going to jail over, Is this really worth going to jail over? You could go to jail for this, is this really worth it?” At this point I ask him to stop and motion towards my kids. For a moment he did, but then came back and continued. He then walked out because the cops had arrived. My 6 year old asked if I was going to be arrested. I explained to him that I was not and I have not done anything wrong.
We asked to do a walk through with an officer and the manager denied it saying they would video it. A week later my sister was hit with a $500 bill on top of her deductibles with no video walkthrough. I contacted their regional office and they were very helpful and had the charges reversed. Unfortunately both of the people who were way out of line in this situation are still there.
