Overall I cannot recommend living here
Positive:
*A short walk from downtown Bremerton and the ferry (30-ish minute walk), and right by the shipyard if you work there. There's also a bus stop to downtown. (See the Negative list re: driving)
*Recent renovations mean the appliances are in good condition (though the stainless steel is hard to wipe smudges off)
*Great maintenance people
Negative:
*Management often doesn't respond to emails/calls. (Maybe in part due to the high turnover rate of the apt managers?)
*The reason I moved in... was because the apartments were affordable, but my rent jumped up by 25% and now it's the rate of a Seattle apartment.
*I suffered a year with a neighbor who blasted music at any hour of the day & night and was completely unresponsive when other neighbors would knock, shout, etc. The police were even called once, around midnight, he turned the music off until the cops left and then started right back up. Multiple complaints but no replies from management.
*There's technically enough parking, but spots aren't assigned, and if you aren't lucky enough to get one of the few spots in front, you're stuck with cramped spots in the alley, which are hard to get in and out of. If you live in one of the units by the alley, you'll sometimes hear people bumping/scraping other cars as they try to leave or pull in.
*Since the apartment is right by the shipyard, it's really difficult to drive anywhere when the shifts change at the shipyard. You'll also get lots of noise through your walls from the bumper to bumper traffic at those times.
*There is a local who regularly wanders the alley screaming obscenities, day and night, and screams slurs at anyone she happens to see.
*Management WILL overcharge you on move-out fees. They expect you to live in a bare-walled cell of an apartment or else pay them half a grand when you leave.
*A smoke alarm is above the oven, only ~a foot off from being directly over it. It's very sensitive and will go off from the heat of opening the warm oven (no smoke), steam from draining pasta noodles in the sink, etc. If you like to cook, you're going to be hearing a LOT from the alarm.
*The mailbox area gets tons of flies when the weather is warm. It's GROSS, and they crawl through the wide gaps between your door and the doorframe into your apartment.
Be wary of renting here. Management stopped allowing half-year leases a couple years ago, and I'm confident it's because they want to limit options for people who realize this place is overpriced.
