Not Bad

I have lived at Town Place for over a year and it can be summed up as "good enough for now". Management seems interested in keeping you just happy enough to not leave, but can't really fix bad neighbors or offer you any reasonable prices to make it worth the annoyances.

The bad:
Overpriced for the overall quality
Maintenance does shoddy work and leave a mess every time including their beer bottle caps.
Way too many people with dogs
The walls don't do much to stop sound so if you have loud...
neighbors or roommates get used to ear plugs.
One assigned spot per apartment and a plague of people who seem to always be using visitor spots.
They may offer you an exclusive lease length but when you go to renew it magically won't be offered anymore.
Trash/Recycling often exceeds capacity
Improvement projects like siding replacement take an excessive amount of time and noise.
Pool is always full of kids and questionable numbers of guests.
People from the surrounding neighborhood bring their dogs to crap on the property.
Expensive to heat in the winter
Annoying new intercom system that calls a primary phone number you provide to replace the barely functional previous one.

The good:
Improvement projects are nice but the outside is arguably less important than the inside.
Relatively clean overall
Pretty nice residents if slightly inconsiderate
Outside noise is minimal most of the time
Maintenance responds but again the work is often shoddy.
High speed internet
Many units have been updated and refurbished
Working wood fireplace in many units
Very close to any store you really need
Easy access to Route 9 and I-91
Dishwasher and garbage disposal
In unit Washer/Dryer is great
Pet friendly

Nothing special

There are several complexes in the area with very similar apartment layout and amenities. Town Place has the most restrictive parking, not guest friendly. The dog park would be a nice feature if it were better maintained. Staff are rude and inconsistent, very high turn over. Grounds are kept up pretty well. Floors are creeky. Real wood fireplaces are a nice feature and community grills too. Overall nothing outstanding you have lots of choices in the area.

Good People, Nice Community

I am a little older and I have lived all over the place in homes and apartments. For Central and Eastern Connecticut, Town Place is above average. It is not cheap but the pool and gym are nice features. It is showing its age in some places but the apartment seems solid and I like that you don't hear very much going on outside your place. Only draw back for me is there isn't a built in microwave. But I can deal with it.
