When I started living here nearly 4 years ago it was wonderful. We had great and responsive management, lots of helpful service techs that came right away, problems were fixed fast, and the management went above and beyond for residents.

Now, it feels like I’m living in a motel 6 while this place is marketed as a “luxury” building. I am a breast feeding mother, I have a newborn in my home. My freezer with all my breast milk repeatedly breaks and the new management has done NOTHING. They’ve...
basically swapped my fridge with another fridge from another apartment (same model) that seems to have the same issue. After they brought me a replacement fridge after days of hassle to even get that the same issue is happening. I call the front desk and the new manager basically says “well the fridge was fine before” as if a working, breastfeeding mother with a newborn has nothing better to do than to purposely break appliances and empty several refrigerators while they continue to “replace” them with more broken ones. And now the same issue is happening again and my husband and I scrambling to save whatever breast milk we can. Does management care? No. I don’t know if they realize there is a formula shortage and breast milk is not a replaceable resource!! It takes hours of effort to make. This is the only food for my baby.

To top this list of my laundry machine is very loud (again I have a baby at home!), all of the things that were “included” in rent are no longer provided : no more No more utilities, no more front desk, packages are just left all over the halls, all the things the previous management did to make residents feel special is done.

Like some more recent reviewers said, don’t read the old reviews for this place when making your decision, read the new ones.

Amazing apartment living

My wife and I lived here before purchasing our first house and we absolutely loved it. The building is really well equipped in terms of amenities and the apartments are really well finished. The staff were always kind and friendly and maintenance were incredibly quick to respond. Highly recommend this place to anyone thinking of moving.

It has been amazing 11 years of living experience

My final month at Oella Mill is coming, after 11 year. I used to live in Philadelphia, Manhattan and Edgewater, NJ before I moved to Maryland. But the last 11 years was the best living experience I ever had. It is not only located a very peaceful and beautiful spot but also very modern and clean place inside of the historical building. Also the staffs at Oella Mill amazing, the office staffs are very kind and helpful and the maintain staffs are also kind and helpful but also they responded and... fixed super fast when I had minor issues in my place. I am truly sorry that I have to move to Virginia because of my job but I reminisce that 11 years at Oella Mill and the experience at Oella Mill will become my new standard of the living, I am not sure which place would meet my new standard. I really want to say thank you to all the staffs at Oella Mill, I will miss all that hospitality that Oella Mill staffs provided. Thank you again, it was wonderful living for 11 years at Oella Mill.

Best Apartment Building I've Ever Lived In!

I checked out Oella Mill on a whim. I'd decided to stop by on my way to check out apartments closer to my work, but as soon as I saw this place, it ruined me for the others. Nothing could compare. It feels like living in England or something with the quaint shops and historic homes nearby. And there's a river!

In my apartment, it's fun to imagine the history these walls saw back when this place was a textile mill. I love the tall ceilings, factory windows and red brick.

And the staff?...
Couldn't be better. I've lived in apartment buildings before and it's obvious these people love and care about this community and are invested in it. Maintenance addresses issues within 24 hours, usually same-day, and they're very professional. And as far as noise goes, this is the quietest place I've ever lived. You may hear your neighbor occasionally, but people in general don't blast their TVs or music here (and the one time I had to ask, they turned it down with apologizes, not realizing I could hear it) and loud parties aren't allowed.

Bottom line: this place has character and the staff will go out of their way to make you feel at home. And that's why I totally don't mind a long commute, because when I get home, I feel at home and can relax!

Horrible experience

One of the worst places I've ever lived - The apartments are some of the smallest despite being priced from ridiculous all the way up to egregious. If you don't live in the south side of the building you get paper thin walls and wooden floors/ceilings (perfect for all sorts of noise to come through) and literally everyone who lives here has a dog, so if you're on the parking lot/road side of the building you'll hear all of that howling/barking. There is also a lovely bit of buzzing noise coming... from the HVAC systems in the hallway/entrances if you're near one, that you'll get to hear on and off literally all day as well as the train that comes by a few times per day - but if you complain about any of it you get a thousand mile stare and "go the hell away" smile - but they'll be thrilled move you to a different unit (of course it'll be more expensive). Go find a cheaper place in Columbia, for the same level of aggravation you might as well save some money. In the 1 month I've been here I've been obsessing about where I'll move to escape this nightmare...
