Pretty Good

I chose Marlborough House, because they have an agreement with Howard University. Southern Management in general has many deals for students. But at MH, Howard graduate students do not have to pay an application fee or deposit. First month's rent was adjusted, and you don't need a background/credit check. So I was able to move in easily.

Though I would like to move into DC, MH has its perks.

There's a mini mart (run out of eggs.. make a quick trip downstairs), gym (gaining too much weight, go...
downstairs), and pool (want fun in the sun.. go downstairs). Laundry and trash chutes on every floor. The metro station is just across the street when using the back gate. Green line goes right to Howard in 20 minutes. I don't even have to change trains. So, clearly, there's a lot of conveniences.

Maintenance answers requests sooooooooooo fast. Literally within a few hours.. one time, I was sure they were gonna come the next day... Someone showed up that night, like an hour after I put the request in. And all of the crew is mad cool.

Yes it's older. I've definitely seen roaches and the hallways don't always smell so good. But that's what happens in an older building with this many people living together, right? Yes it's not really in a DC neighborhood.. it's kind of closed off. You have to get in the car to go get something to eat or get fast food. So, it doesn't have a good walkscore at all.

But, MH came through in the clutch for me when I was just moving to the city. I was able to look over my apartment and move in the very same day.

comfortable and convenient

Marlbourgh house has nice and affordable apartments, also comes with some good benefits. Such as utilities included and the the apartments are spacious. The best part is location where it sits right on the DC line and a 5 minute walk to the metro station what mote can you ask for?!

This place is only good if you need to be close to the metro

I've lived here for the past 4 years. I moved to these apartments b/c I needed somewhere affordable to live after graduating from college. I also needed to be close to the subway b/c I don't have a car. If cheap-ish rent and proximity to public transport are your only must haves then this place will be great for you. In all other aspects it sucks. I've seen roaches & mice. The hallways usually smell of marijuana or mold. The building is old as Jesus himself, and when ppl move out all they do is... add another layer of paint over the last residents' dirt. Save yourself and don't move here.

Beautifully Upgraded & Quiet Property

I've been a resident for 10 years as of this year, originally moving in as a teenager. The property has consistently been renovated and upgraded since I have lived here. We're on our second round of new carpets, new wood floors in the side entrances, new balcony railings and of course It's always been known as a well maintained property from the manicured lawns alone. Staff are polite and very responsive. It's become tough to move because I now have a high bar for what I expect elsewhere which... is why I'm still here. The building is eerily quiet even with a wide range in the age of residents. I would definitely recommend this place to prospective residents.
