Pretty Good
I chose Marlborough House, because they have an agreement with Howard University. Southern Management in general has many deals for students. But at MH, Howard graduate students do not have to pay an application fee or deposit. First month's rent was adjusted, and you don't need a background/credit check. So I was able to move in easily.
Though I would like to move into DC, MH has its perks.
There's a mini mart (run out of eggs.. make a quick trip downstairs), gym (gaining too much weight, go... downstairs), and pool (want fun in the sun.. go downstairs). Laundry and trash chutes on every floor. The metro station is just across the street when using the back gate. Green line goes right to Howard in 20 minutes. I don't even have to change trains. So, clearly, there's a lot of conveniences.
Maintenance answers requests sooooooooooo fast. Literally within a few hours.. one time, I was sure they were gonna come the next day... Someone showed up that night, like an hour after I put the request in. And all of the crew is mad cool.
Yes it's older. I've definitely seen roaches and the hallways don't always smell so good. But that's what happens in an older building with this many people living together, right? Yes it's not really in a DC neighborhood.. it's kind of closed off. You have to get in the car to go get something to eat or get fast food. So, it doesn't have a good walkscore at all.
But, MH came through in the clutch for me when I was just moving to the city. I was able to look over my apartment and move in the very same day.
