Good Room, Bad Staff, Cheap Renovations, Old Building.
The room is actually pretty good. The building is very old. Moving in or out is very difficult due to no loading zone and a small elevator which occasionally malfunctions (like one minute it works, next it doesn't...).
The "renovations" are actually quite cheaply done. You'll notice this quickly. The new hardwood flooring feels like treated cardboard. You can tell it's cheap because the panels are curling (Brand new btw).
Garbage disposal is very difficult, especially as a new resident.
The... parking lot is on like a 45 degree slant... making getting a moving truck in difficult. Make sure your car has good brakes and use the parking brake...
Excellent wifi capability (gigabit from comcast). Next to a bike rental spot. Walking distance to several metro stations and a large shopping area. Amazing selection of restaurants. Close to major parks, Smithsonian, and monuments.
Really a phenomenal area. The room is very nice (minus the "hardwood" flooring). The problems are really how hard it is to move in/out, difficult of trash, and staff.
Oh yes! Staff... You've probably already seen other reviews on this part. I arrived a day later than move in to discover they didn't have the keys to my apartment. Rather than getting on with resolving it, they proceeded to play a blame game on whose fault it was.
They delivered a set of keys later in the day (after unlocking room). Next day I went to work and didn't lock my room (I know shame on me). When I came back after work... I discovered my room locked and they keys they gave me... WERE THE WRONG KEYS.
I call the staff... they accuse me of several things (like being a moron at the wrong room). Then instead of coming to help ask me to walk to their office which is a long way uphill. I arrive at the office and they accuse me of being a moron again.
When I get back to my room with the staff's key and unlock my door. I discover they sent a guy to spray the room for pests. FYI... I received no notice of intent to enter per Virginia state law. The guy locked the door when he left.
Staff is actually very rude to you, unwilling to actually help (more willing to blame each other or you), and really feel very unprofessional (weeks to respond to emails as a new tenant, no keys ready, lost copies of renters insurance, gave wrong keys).
If you can bare the bad office staff, cheap flooring, difficulty moving, hard time with trash... then the room is probably the best for the price and location in the area.
