WE MOVED IN AND IMMEDIATELY THE APARTMENT REEKED OF MOLD, MILDEW AND CIGARETTES AND ITS COSTING US $200

We understand this is a smoking friendly property but this is a ridiculous situation. Please read on. We made it clear before signing any lease we were sensitive to smoke and the male apartment manager assured us this would not be an issue. The smell is in every room but particularly strong under the kitchen sink and in the closets. We did our own deep cleaning and it didn't help. Essential oil diffusers, febreze, odor traps, nothing helped. Our throats hurt constantly after a few weeks of these... conditions. We requested a fix right away but it took multiple complaints and a few WEEKS before they gave us a dehumidifier. The dehumidifier pulls 3-4 gallons daily. The smell remains. Then they sent someone to paint one room to solve the issue, he sprayed paint all over the floors permanently marking them. The smell did not improve. Finally the apartment maintenance man suggested we fog the apartment. This was a hug ordeal. The man who fogged the apartment was professional and said this process was done when fire damage has occurred so should do the trick, nothing changed. The smell is constant but stronger some days than others. We have lived here a month and a half with this god awful smell. We are pretty confident the smell is coming from the downstairs unit. We asked the maintenance man, who has just left the position, and he told us he thinks we are right. That the unit below us has a tenant that smokes a lot and has lived there a long time. We approached both managers asking to move apartments since nothing has improved. Their answer is an additional $200 fee to move apartments when one eventually comes available. I asked if the fee could be waved considering the circumstances and was told no. Then it was implied I should be happy the fee isn't higher like $400- which is what the original moving in fees totaled. Most upsetting of all, at this last meeting I was told the apartment we moved into was known to have long time smokers in it before us by the female apartment manager. I asked why we were not informed of this and she claimed it's because we spoke with the male apartment manager and not her. Why this two person staff cannot communicate with each other I do not understand. We really love the location and layout of these apartments but can not believe the way we have been treated. This apartment needs an air quality inspection as we suspect it is not safe. The dehumidifier still pulls many gallons of water out daily and the smell is strong as ever.

We do offer to clean the units, but being a smoking property there is a possibility there will be residual smell. I apologize that you are un happy with your current apartment, and hope we can fix that by switching units and waiving a portion of the... deposit!

We smell it coming from outside so opening the windows doesn't help yet keeping them closed doesn't either. There is no escape. We have lived here a month and a half with this god awful smell.

Disgusting all around.

Mold in the apartments, everything falling apart. Management is rude and degrading, asks for 'proof' ever time a simple noise complaint is made when our neighbors are blasting action movies on a Tuesday into the am. I've lived in apartments for half my life and this is hands down the worst place i've ever lived. There are so many other cheaper beautiful properties in Olympia and surrounding cities- stay very very very far away from this one.

Glad to be moving

Lived here 11 years. Apts are large with a closet pantry. Very noisy in summertime if you live near the pool or basketball court. My rent has been raised around $100.00 on average the last 3 years. Apartment rules enforced only if convenient for management. If you live in my unit after I move, be prepared to keep your windows closed as the neighbors downstairs smoke all hours of the night, also, marijuana smoke comes up through the cabinets under the sink.Sawdust deposits in kitchen drawers from... opening and closing them.I liked living here till owner used a management company to run it.

Abalon Pointe is a really great place.

The rent is kinda high to live on your own, but with a roommate or significant other it is decent. There is a pool open during the summer which is pretty cool. The apartments are nice and large, even the smallest rooms can hold a queen sized bed and a desk for school. There is even a small playground for kids in the complex, which is safe and a good alternative if the kids want to play without a parent needing to go with them. I love living here.
