STAY AWAY

DONNOT RENT HERE, Ridiculous Fees after you move out
Been living there one year and moved out.
Location 2/5: OK, close to the bus station, but the apartment building is near I-5, can be very noisy when you open the window, very disturbing when you cannot sleep, plus the pollution from I5 vehicles. I lived in the top floor, room temperature can reach 90F in the summer.
Amenity: 2/5The apartment itself is built in 2000s so do not expect it to be too good. No fitness room, elevator broke regularly....
When I moved in I had to lift heavy bed frames etc to 6 floors with the elevator out of service. So get yourself ready before you move in, you'll never know when the elevator is usable.
Leasing Office: 3/5 was responsive and friendly. Possibly the only good thing.

The previous ones were tolerable to me, but after moving out I found there was more than $200 balance of "Sewer&Trash fee" showed on the resident portal, I didn't think too much and I paid it, then waiting them to return some of my deposits. And just now I received the moveout inspection list, found out it is not "Sewer&Trash Fee," actually they deducted all of my deposit $400, plus this $200+, for some items such as dusty counter-$15, dirty floor-$100, dirty dishwasher-$15(which I did not use ONE TIME during my residence), -summing up to ridiculous $650.

So my comment is, find somewhere else to rent if you don't want to kiss goodbye to your deposits, you can rent a much MOREcomfort and convenient place in SLU or UW, with only adding a few hundred.

You will regret living here

Useless management, horrible neighbors. Do yourself a favor and stay far away.

Best Value for the Price

When a friend and I moved to Seattle for fun back in Sept 2018, we were so surprised at how expensive it was to live in the city! We looked high and low for a place with everything we wanted - something close to downtown with in-unit washer and dryer, dishwasher, garage space and bicycle storage. When we found Illumina Lake Union, they met all these needs and more! The rooftop view is amazingly beautiful, especially during New Years and Independence Day celebrations on Lake Union, which is only... a couple blocks away. Restaurants and bars are within walking distance, Capital Hill is right across I-5. The staff is the best part of Illumina, however. I absolutely love how warm and friendly they are, and so willing to make sure you feel right at home. Could not recommend it more highly!

Excellent Apartment!

Great apartment in a great area but what makes Illumina stand out is the management and staff- big shout out to Amber! There are tons of other apartments in Seattle, but I choose to live in Illumina because of the staff. The staff are always available when you need something, very friendly and always greet you with a smile, knows everyone's names and their pets- even know my friends' names! I barely need maintenance done in my place but when needed, they are very quick to respond. Even though... it's in the city, there is a sense of community in Illumina. Grounds are always kept clean, the rooftop has an amazing view with beautiful furniture and a BBQ grill to use, updated furnishings, and washer in dryer in unit. Location is perfect, there's a bus stop right outside although very close to everything. It's in a quiet neighborhood with restaurants in walking distance and has a sense of community. There's an off leash dog park right behind the building which my dog loves, and access to I-5 and I-90 is just a breeze. Been living in Illumina for at least 6 years now and couldn't think of anywhere else to stay in Seattle. Definitely recommend this apartment!

Finally we found it!

Finding an apartment in Seattle is hard no matter what you're looking for. Finding an apartment, that accommodates a couple working in two different areas of the city, who has a cat and a German Shepherd and who doesn't want to spend all of their salary on rent, is next to impossible! We started our apartment hunt in April, to move in August or September, looking through all renter's and apartment websites, as well as Craigslist, Facebook and other sources. Either it was too expensive, in a... location that didn't work for us or we couldn't bring our cuddly German Shepherd, Ardie. One day, finally, our current apartment showed up on Craigslist and we immediately scheduled a viewing. The administration was super helpful with everything we needed in documents and after a short, informal pet interview, bringing Ardie was no problem at all! We love it here: We're right on five bus lines, the dog park is our neighbor and from the great roof top we can enjoy the view of Seattle and the lake. The apartment has lots of light and space, great updated appliances and wonderful wood floors, that makes cleaning after the pets a breeze. Big french doors let in light and the open plan kitchen/living room allow us to be together, even if we're doing different things. Living at Illumina was definitely the best option for us of all and we're so excited to get to stay here as long as possible!
