Big mistake
There are nicer places to live in the area for comparable rent. Although there are some redeeming qualities, they do not outweigh the negative aspects of this property. The Union Point community is great - safe, plenty of green space/sidewalks. Unfortunately there’s a lot of speeding/drag racing on the main road, and dog poop everywhere. There is plenty of resident parking but limited guest parking. There’s snow removal, but the sidewalks around the apartments are inconsistently salted/shoveled... so are often very slippery. The street/parking lot lights are out more often than not in certain areas, which leads to several areas being pitch black at night, and you need a flashlight (since at least 2019 despite mgmt, the town, and the neighborhood assoc. being made aware by multiple residents). You cannot see if there‘a a person or animal until you’re on top of them which is very creepy. Utilities in the community are high. The apartment that we lived in appeared average at first but once we moved in, realized that no turnover had been done - it was filthy, and the appliances were either moldy, rusty or broken. During the short time we were there we experienced far too many problems to list. We were repeatedly gaslighted about our issues that were objectively concerning (e.g. re: moldy fridge on move in day, we were told “That’s not as much as I expected. You know, cheese is mold.”, or that the AC was not working because we used the fan). The office staff never answer the phone (even when they are all sitting there with no clients). The maintenance staff John, Stefan, and Mario are lovely, professional and competent but are hindered by working in a terrible system, and the regional manager Cecelia was very responsive and at least attempted to help us. She did not pretend that our situation was acceptable, which was refreshing. These were the only staff who made our experience slightly less horrible. The management company was unable to resolve multiple serious issues in a satisfactory manner, upper management agreed that our situation was unacceptable and to their credit we were ultimately permitted to leave. My hope is that our experience will create change for future residents, but the likelihood of that is probably low, which is why I chose to write this review in hopes that someone else can avoid a similar headache. We’re now at a property that has reminded us that apartment living doesn’t have to be a bad experience, and can even be a good experience.
