Great apartment, old building
I’ve lived here for two years, and I’ve mostly enjoyed it here. 1 free underground parking spot in the heated garage, a storage locker large enough to fit a kayak, modern appliances, HVAC unit for every apartment (and it works great), so close to the park and the property’s full of old growth trees! Plus, maintenance works to fix issues within the first day or two of an issue being reported, and the sound proofing between the walls is awesome.
All that said, it does have quirks I wish I could... change. Biggest one is the plumbing and pipes. Greasy food down the garbage disposal clogs the kitchen plumbing for every apartment vertically (disposal from 300 is connected to 200 and 100), can clog under the first floor apartment, and cause kitchen sink wastewater to back flow into the apartments. In the two years I’ve lived on the first floor, I’ve had this issue five times. When I moved in, I noticed the wood floors in the kitchen were warped—I can’t prove that this was caused by past water overflow, but I’m fairly certain that’s what occurred. (Side note, the apartment will pay for any flooding damage and any cleaning services required afterwards)
The other issues are much smaller. Almost every cabinet drawer in the kitchen and bathroom has cracks or hot glue fixes, although they do work well. The pantry is so long, the refrigerator only opens 80% of the way. Porcelain in the bathroom appliances is chipped and cracked, and the toilet’s “low flow” replacement mechanisms cause it to refill the tank twice an hour, although perhaps those are expected in an older apartment.
Again, I’ve enjoyed my time here. The proximity to the park, the appliances, the floor space, and all the storage are wonderful. It’s hard to beat.
