DO NOT RENT FROM METROPOLITAN

DO NOT RENT FROM METROPOLIAN.
This complex was previously owned by a lovely small operation, but since the transition to The Metropolitan there have been problems. They do not care about their residents and will squeeze you for every dollar when you move out. You can expect to be cheated. They are crooks.
We lived at our apartment for one year and we had our entire deposit taken from us. Not only that, but they charged us $350. They claimed the damage was SO bad from ‘pet stains’ that they...
needed to replace the carpets. It was a completely ridiculous claim. We were shown pictures and there were only very small stains visible from the underneath. They were not visible from the surface. The carpets were not new and the stains were most likely from the tenants before. We are very clean people and take pride in the condition of our home. Even if the stains were from our dog, we paid a $300 pet fee AND monthly pet rent. I feel like I was swindled and Metropolitan has been quite rude about the charges when questioned. We were cheated.
The carpets were not in wonderful condition when we moved in. It is an old building and the carpets were coming up at the sides and tack strips would cut your feet if walked directly over. The bathroom smelled like smoke and the walls were badly painted. They were sloppily painted layers over layers and peeling on baseboards and doorways. We never had a railing for the stairs. Overall, it was livable, but we left the apartment in better condition than was left to us. It was not in the condition of the model apartment we were shown. It was not even the same layout. I felt tricked upon moving in, but I tried to make the best of it. Snow removal was also mismanaged and left many residents unable to get to work. It was not a pleasant experience with Metropolitan from the start and to the end.

We were model residents. We cleaned up after our pet. We paid rent on time and we cared about the appearance of our apartment. We expected our security deposit back. We did expect not to be charged and treated badly AGAIN.

Night mare

Living in metropolitan complex was a nightmare for me. Staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. It was one of the worst experience , I had in my whole life. If you submit any work request, they don't come and follow up with that. Very unfriendly staff. Infested with bug and sometimes, they don't cut the grass and there are lot of mosquitos on the property.

Nice, but rent is high for what you get

We have lived in the apartments for 3.5 years in a 3br 1.5ba. Our experience has been nice but not much cabinets in the kitchen and the lack of services on campus (for extra cost you can go to another company owned pool down the road). The parking lot is always a fight for space is you work any other shift than day shift. With the amount of rent you are paying it would be nice to park close to your home more often.

A lot of WCU students have been moving in and are not as considerate to the...
other tenants. Things have improved during the colder months and hopefully this continues during the warmer months.

The children have a small play area near the dog park that is shaded, but they usually play in the "front" grass area with more sun. It's also nice that they are able to ride their bikes since their isn't too much traffic.

We will be moving out soon and I have some recommendations.
1. More cabinets in the kitchens. There is the back wall with nothing on it. Putting more cabinetry and counters would be nicer for the family of 4 in the 3br. The 8 cabinets are hard to put enough food and kitchen equipment in them.

2. More than 1 outlet at the kitchen counter. Just having the 1 outlet near the sink makes it hard to use items in the kitchen.

3. Better access to items in the closet. The closets are not deep enough to have access to clothes that are not placed in front of the door.

Nice Places, High Rent, Expect to Get Ripped Off Once You are in (and move out)

The units themselves were fine, but management earns a D/F. One person left the unit, and while no threat was ever made on our end to break the lease, they made it a truly miserable experience. They also failed to cash a check on time and assessed me a $125 late fee. I had to spend 10 hours presenting extensive paperwork before they reluctantly gave up. The women in the office were terrible to work with. The place was left spotless and yet there was only $40 of the security deposit returned.... The two reasons being nail holes and items left behind (a roll of wrapped toilet paper was left in each bathroom for consideration).

It was a nice place the nickel and diming is a blatant money grab. Your needs will be met, but be prepared to hate the management and, in then end, get ripped off.

Townhome/apartment life 2Bed 1.5bathroom

Living here has had it's ups and downs. On the day we moved in we realized we had a bad case of ground ciccada killer bees in front of our apartment (swarming everywhere). Oh course, I am deadly petrified of bees and the grounds keeper was quick to come out and spray around and continue to spray daily till it was some what tollerable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Grounds team is exceptional and are prompt. Our town home was nice and clean. The stairs creaked an awful lot when you went... up and down them. Air conditioner worked well, but the heat distribution kind of sucked towards the winter. Renting price is high ($1,415) plus everything else has a separate cost utilities, electricity, dog fee, trash, and sewer. I will say however, the community is nice, but one HUGE complaint I do have is the West Chester University Students living there. On the weekends they are in the parking lot until 3-4am in the morning talking/smoking/drinking. With all of the walls being paper thin you hear everything. Even with a warning it continued. So with being a full time worker including working on the weekends it really infuriated me at times with the disrespect to their neighbors including us with a young child. West Chester is an amazing town full of history and awe. I did enjoy living here, but It is hard to save money at the least with every cost being separate. Which seems to be a trend at the surrounding apartments in the area.
