Noisy & Expensive

I lived here for 1 year. I loved the high ceilings, marble countertops, and the large windows. I was never able to get a garage which was a major bummer because I had to rent a storage space in Bluffdale. I spent extra on a covered parking spot which was kind of useless because when it snows, the wind carries the snow anyway. Between dogs barking and constant car noise, it can get unbearable if you like to have your windows open in the summer but noise from adjacent apartments is low. I see... someone here mentioned the ceiling noise which I also noticed. You can actually hear people walking upstairs and it sounds like they're in your apartment, hahaha.

The carpeted floor in the bedroom and walk in closet still had nail heads sticking up and the bathroom exhaust fan has no off switch. Thanks to rampant development in that immediate area, there are no views to speak of. Snow removal was perfect. They got out there at 6am any day it snowed. Turnover in the office is fairly high, so don't get too friendly with those people.

Not bad

I love the high ceilings, marble counters, wide hallways, and the fact that my heat hasn't turned on yet, tee hee. I wouldn't knowingly choose a first floor unit since they are open to the outside, and if I had a choice, I would have chosen the West side of A or B block for the sunset action (until more buildings go up and probably block the view). Parking in the covered spots is a bit dicey since the box steel supports can be a mere 4 to 6 inches from your car. You have to be careful pulling in... and out. The property is kept clean despite the tenants who can be a tad messy and I haven't detected any foul odors or overwhelming noise. I like it here.

Pretty good, but design issues.

I'm just now sitting here listening to the new tenant above me walk around in their unit. I assume this building was built with no insulation between floors as I can hear creaking and foot falls every time they walk around up there. It's almost as if that sound is coming from my one bedroom unit. That's how distinct it is. The larger bass tones like movement of furniture sound nice and rich though. They just rolled something large across the floor which produced a lovely deep timbre reminiscent... of my years as a young student living in a $300/month lower apartment in Buffalo.

Local outside noise isn't too bad especially considering the place is located between a commuter railroad track and a major highway. I imagine noise is going to ramp up since new office building construction is imminent in neighboring lots.

Parking, and trash removal seem good, but all the walkways and staircases are stained and fairly filthy. And with certain kinds of stains come certain kinds of odors although I doubt most tenants will ever catch a whiff because who even uses the stairs anymore? It is interesting, I can tell they used to mop the staircases and apparently gave up when they realized the baked in grime wasn't going anywhere.

The hallway dust bunnies are everywhere and are starting to form odd shapes. Seems like an interesting subject for an artistic photo essay.

I had one minor maintenance issue that was resolved quickly with apparently minimal effort (very minimal).

It's a little odd that the end of A building above the office is 4' higher on the 2nd floor probably to accommodate the higher ceiling of the office, so the elevator there is only useful if on foot because of stairs there. The suits in the WPC mother ship must have determined they'd lease apartments easier if the ceiling was high in the office. Interesting...

As for the office, Ainzlee and Tabitha are professional, attentive, and really nice. I hope they stick around.

Ceiling Noise

Please ask Parc West to demonstrate the noise made by the upstairs unit from normal walking before signing a lease. I don’t know how the builder of Parc West got away with this major design flaw. Other than that, everything checks out fine.
